Legal disclaimer and service scope

Fees collected on this platform cover website hosting, cloud server queue operations, interactive 3D orbit visualization, and the maintenance of our local demonstration hardware. Payment does not constitute the purchase of radio frequency spectrum, commercial telecommunications bandwidth, or guaranteed satellite uplink services. Radio transmissions are executed locally via license-exempt Short-Range Device (SRD) equipment in accordance with national spectrum regulations.

What this is

Say It To Space is a student capstone project about electromagnetic waves and radio. You write a short message, I review it, and a low-power radio in Hungary sends it out on the 868 MHz band with the antenna pointed at the sky. The website then shows where that signal would be by now, based on the speed of light.

When you pay, you're paying for a digital experience: the website, the queue, the 3D map, and keeping the demonstration hardware running. You are not buying radio spectrum, airtime, or any kind of satellite service.

No guarantee anyone receives it

Radio signals spread out and get weaker with distance, and a low-power signal like this one drops below the background noise of space very quickly. Nobody, on Earth or anywhere else, is expected to receive or decode your message. It's a symbolic gesture, and the map shows a calculated position, not a measured one.

Every message gets reviewed

I read every message before it's transmitted. I won't send anything that:

If your message gets rejected, you'll get a full refund. Once a message has been transmitted it can't be taken back, so there are no refunds after that.

Timing

Approved messages go into a queue and get transmitted when the radio runs. License-exempt radio bands limit how much airtime a transmitter can use per hour, so it can take a while if a lot of messages are waiting. The map starts counting from the moment yours is actually sent.

Your data

I store your message, the name or callsign you sign it with, and your email if you give one. Your message and signature can be seen by anyone with its tracking link. Your email is only used to tell you about your message and is never shown publicly, sold, or shared. Messages are stored with Supabase. Payments, once they're switched on, are handled by the payment provider and card details never touch this site. To have your data deleted, email me.

Changes and contact

This is a student project, so things might change as it grows. If these terms change, the date at the top changes too. Questions about any of this? Email hello@sayitto.space.
